After Typhoon Dodong Comes Typhoon Falcon

Although Typhoon Dodong has passed the Philippines, another Typhoon is expected to land in the shores of the Philippines.  Bagyong Falcon, Typhoon Falcon, or Storm Falcon is the latest tropical storm to enter the country, and is expected to be bringing heavier winds and rain. Typhoon Dodong, which was the last storm to visit the country, has already left some chaos in various areas. Typhoon Falcon is the fourth storm in the year 2011.

According to PAGASA, Filipinos can expect maximum winds that can exceed Typhoon Dodong. Department of Science and Technology Undersecretary Yumul stated on Friday that Falcon can potentially grow on Friday afternoon after merging with the new low pressure areas spotted near the Catanduanes province. As a result, the typhoon may bring winds of at least 115 kilometers per hour. Nevertheless, Yumul stated that Falcon may leave the Philippines by Saturday evening, but can still produce cloudy skies and scattered rain showers until June 29.

Development of Typhoon Dodong

Many people can readily anticipate the arrival of a typhoon, but how many can actually understand how it is formed? I would say a few. Typhoon Dodong has already struck the Philippines in no time, and only a few can imagine how it was formed. Aside from preparing for any upcoming typhoon, it would also be helpful to know how typhoons develop in order to have an idea why they exist.

Typhoons have certain conditions which must be met in order for them to be formed.  These conditions include the following: warm ocean water, Coriolis force, upper atmosphere divergence, lower atmospheric ability, moist mid-atmosphere, and a pre-existing disturbance. Each of these conditions is significant in the formation of a typhoon dodong.

Assuming that these conditions are achieved, a typhoon dodong may arise. We must now be aware of the different kinds of atmospheric disturbances that allow the creation of a typhoon.  A monsoon trough is actually an extension of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone. It is a trough that is characterized by low pressure developed from the convergence of northeast and southeast trade winds.  A Tropical Upper Troposphere Trough allows a typhoon to begin at the lower levels. It remains on the warm ocean waters for several days and the low reaches down to the surface from the upper atmosphere. A Front allows a typhoon to be formed by staying on tropical waters. Showers and storms can arise which causes a typhoon.

Sufficient knowledge in the development of a typhoon definitely helps people become aware of their surroundings. It also gives a sense of urgency, thus giving people ample time to prepare.

Essential Preparation Tips For Typhoon Dodong

You can keep up with the most up-to-date weather forecasts to prepare for a big typhoon, but if you are not equipped with essential preparation tips demanded in these situations, you are at great risk. It is highly recommendable to have a plan in order to face any upcoming obstacles such as Typhoon Dodong.

Before you can prepare for Typhoon Dodong, you must first understand how typhoons develop and behave. Typhoon is a term given to an enormous mass of catastrophic winds and rains that develops in the Pacific. A typhoon is greatly influenced by low-pressure areas which allow fast evaporation. It usually takes a few days before a typhoon is created. The Philippines has become a frequent destination of typhoons because of its location in the Pacific Ring of Fire. As a result, most Filipinos rely on weather forecasts by PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical & Astronomical Services Administration) in order to anticipate incoming typhoons.

Of course, one should still be keen on weather forecasts to have time to prepare. Typhoon Dodong should not be underestimated as it can cause massive destruction. At least 48 hours prior to the expected typhoon encounter, one should already come up with a solid plan. Here are highly effective essential preparation tips that you can use.

-          Stack up on food and water a few days before the typhoon is predicted to arrive. Make sure you have enough food and water that will last for at least a week. Once a typhoon arrives, you may never have the chance to go out of your house and get food. Also, food establishment are most likely closed because of the typhoon.

-          Invest in high-quality rain gear and equipment. Always have waterproof jackets and umbrellas handy for warmth and protection.  Waterproof flashlights are also useful when there is no electricity.

-          Stay indoors as much as possible. Once the typhoon strikes, flying debris can pose as a threat and being outdoors can be a potential danger. Electric wires can also be life-threatening, so it is wise to just stay inside a house, an office, or a safe place.

-          Lastly, awareness takes you a long way. Try to stay in tune with the latest news on the typhoon.

Typhoon Dodong is not to be taken for granted as it can be as dangerous as any other typhoon. Being equipped with these essential preparation tips may not be as useful as you think, but they can strengthen you and help you cope with any calamity that comes your way.

Last May 24, 2011 Typhoon Chedeng hit the land of the Philippine are at the middle of the summer dry season. Last day, Pag-Asa release an update regarding the sudden rainfall that hit both Central and Western Luzon and lots of us thinks that this might be another typhoon. Next in line is Typhoon Dodong that we encountered last August 2007.

According to Pag-Asa (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration) that this is the start of the rainy and wet season. The rainfall was due to the estimated low pressure area from West of Metro Manila. So should we say this is Typhoon Dodong?

Typhoon Dodong landed in the shores of the Philippines.

MANILA, Philippines – 2007 was the year when Typhoon Dodong landed in the shores of the Philippines.  Flashbacks of tragedy arise, such as innocent people electrocuted, children wading endlessly, and the fearful hoping for urgent rescue.  In a country where people are used to low pressure calamities, people will never forget and underestimate the power of such maximum winds.

Four years have gone; and the Typhoon Dodong disaster may re-emerge and possibly bring potential danger to the country soon. The destructive effects could be encountered again whether or not there is ample preparation, according to PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration).

What Typhoon Dodong Caused the Philippines

Situated at the heart of Southeast Asia, and at the Pacific Ring of Fire, the Philippines is no stranger to strong typhoons. The grueling season may start as early as May and end on November. Their unpredictable nature makes them one of the most challenging ordeals every Filipino must face. Typhoon Dodong is one of the names that comes into mind.

Typhoon Dodong landed on the shores of the Philippines in 2007. It created a wide array of after effects, ranging from agricultural to structural damage, to life loss, and property destruction. The whole nation realized the consequence of taking mother nature for granted, thus experiencing hardship in the form of a tropical storm. Dodong has been only one of many storms that has passed through the Philippine Archipelago and has left great destruction.

Typhoon Dodong

The country has figured out a way to deal with such calamities. Relying on PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric, Geographical and  Astronomical Services Administration) forecasts has been an assuring solution; however,  it has never brought any guarantee of prevention. We could always find infinite ways to prepare for any upcoming calamities such as Dodong, but we could never reverse the effects of harming our own environment. There is only one thing we can do, and that is to learn our own lesson.
